Tiyanak

Tiyanak

The Tiyanak is Philippine mythology, it’s a creature that imitates the form of a child.  It takes the appearance of a newborn baby, and cries like one in the jungle to lure unsuspecting travelers. Once it has selected its victim it changes to its true form and attacks.  It slashes its victims or leads them astray, it even will kidnap children.  Theories say that the tiyanak is a spirit of a child whose mother died before giving birth, which caused the child to be born in the ground thus its current state.
